Chicken Farming

To help establish common ground when people approach chicken farming and environmental stewardship from different perspectives, the DLLC produced a data-rich storyboard, “Exploring Chicken Farming on Delmarva.” The storyboard is also available through the short link: bit.ly/DelmarvaChicken

It uses reliable, unbiased data to illustrate changes in characteristics of chicken farming on Delmarva over the past 30 years.

The online tool describes the changing landscape of chicken on Delmarva, and it dives into topics like human population and environmental management, and the production, efficiency and economics of chicken farming.

We hope these findings help shed light on questions frequently asked about chicken production on Delmarva.

DLLC worked with Salisbury University’s Eastern Shore Regional GIS Cooperative (ESRGC) to develop the storyboard, and funding came from Mid-Shore Regional Council and many of our DLLC members.
